All About Quads
Quads are mini chess tournaments with four players per group of similar skill, playing three rounds total. Round robin pairings (in groups of 4) are put together based on skill level. Unrated players will be paired with other beginners, while experienced players will play against others with a similar rating.
Quads offer players an exciting way to practice chess skills and contribute to an official chess rating through tournament play! Three advantages of quads are: 1) Level competition for all players, 2) Very quick tournaments, and 3) Official NW Scholastic Rated System (NWSRS)-ratings for each participant! Each quad lasts 1-2.5 hours total (rather than the usual 7-8 hours total) for a 5-round tournament!
Quad tournaments have a maximum capacity of 24 students. Quad winners will be awarded! Awards will range from free admission to future quads to trophies and gift certificates! 🏆🎉
